Streaks from Failing CCD

My beloved Canon A75 encountered some difficulties, starting about a year or so ago and continuing until it was completely useless.

Slightly before complete uselessness, it went through a phase where it took mostly pictures like this. Ever the optimist, I figured I'd someday turn one of the images into artwork. Today is that day.

I did just one tweak to the image, and fell completely in love with the result. Can anyone out there guess what the tweak is?

Hint: I used Google Picasa for it, though it's not unique to that software I'm sure.

Another hint: the colour is natural, and it's what enabled me to figure out what the problem was. The CCD in many Canon models of that era was prone to failure, and they will fix it free of charge (though you may have to pay for shipping).
