Wineglass with Snapped Stem

Here's another "broken wine glass" to add to my collection.

This one broke by falling off the dish-drying rack. I thought it was so beautiful that it was just the stem that snapped, and that the break was a clean and sharp diagonal line. I was actually excited to photograph it, and not at all upset about breaking it!! Though I am running out of wine glasses....

I felt like I was doing something almost poetic as I arranged this photo. I like the contrast between the fragile glass and the solid slate table, and the romance implied by the fireplace, the warm colours of the room, and of course by the glass itself. And like a broken romance, the glass can still be appreciated for its beauty, even though it no longer exists.
